Hitch Cart

Problem: Current methods for transporting sports wheelchairs are cumbersome and inconvenient

Overview
Process

User observation was first conducted to observe how users currently carried their equipment.

Measurements of the users' wheelchairs were taken.

Sketches were drawn and presented to the users for feedback.

User Testing was carried out to collect feedback from the users

Through various rounds of user testing, a shelf like cart was created. This not only allowed users to carry their equiptment, but also served as a workstation.

The height of the cart is adjustable to account for wheelchairs of different heights.

Wheelchair athletes currently have to drag their sports wheelchairs by hand.

Athletes assembeled their wheelchair on site, scrambling with tools on the floor.

Rapid Ideation of ideas for the sports equipment carrying device were brainstormed

Foamcore prototypes were created for users to interact with.

Iterative design process was carried out to incorporate user feedback into designs

Solidwork rendering were made for the final design version.
